About
My name is Amber Skye OBrien and I am the founder of Glass Art Energy.
I started this project in 2016 at the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) through the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program. Through this initiative, I received two consecutive grants to conduct this research and present the findings at the Glass Art Society Conferences in Corning NY (2016) and Norfolk, VA (2017). My work received two honorable mentions at the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Showcase in 2017 and was published in Manoa Horizon’s, UHM’s scholarly journal.
Following the initial research at the university, the project was featured in Glass Art Magazine in December 2017. Due to a lack of funding after graduating in 2017, I was forced to put the project aside until now. The need for this educational research is still very evident in the glass art community. My goal as a graduate student at the University of Washington is to reignite this project and re-establish the website with current, up-to-date information and distribute the site across the community for continued engagement.
